BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
January 25, 2016
The Shawnee Township Board of Trustees held a Regular Board Meeting at the Shawnee Township Administration Building, 2530 Fort Amanda Rd., Lima, Ohio. Chairperson Russ Holly called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. A brief moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call indicated those present as follows: Chairperson Russ Holly, Vice Chairperson Chris Seddelmeyer, Trustee Dave Belton, Fiscal Officer Stephanie Hoffer, Police Chief Mike Keith, Fire Chief Todd Truesdale, Cemetery Board Pres. Joe Hicks, Legal Advisor Clay Balyeat, Zoning Inspector Mark Bishop, and Road Supt. Howard Gray.
OPENING OF FARM BIDS
Only one bid was received for farming 9.8 acres of the land owned by Shawnee Township located on Zurmehly Rd. (Property, 12.41 acres, Parcel no. 46150503003000). Bid: 1. Aaron Peters, 2387 Beery Rd., Elida, Ohio 45807 419-236-6665 *Bid is on a per acre basis, $167 per acre
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Belton made a motion for approval of the Minutes of the Regular Board of Trustees Meeting held January 11, 2016, Mrs. Seddelmeyer seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Mr. Belton made a motion for approval of the Minutes of the Public Hearing held January 11, 2016, Mrs. Seddelmeyer seconded, and the motion carried 3-0.
FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT Financial Reports for November 2015 were submitted to the Board of Trustees and Departments. Mr. Belton made a motion for approval of the financials, Mrs. Seddelmeyer seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. LEGAL ADVISOR Discussion: • Photos of property on Southwood. Demolition today.
Resolution # 09-16 Approve Then & Now Purchases
Be it hereby resolved, the Board of Trustees of Shawnee Township approves of the following Then & Now Purchases. Said resolution is to verify funds were available at the time of purchase. Allen County Engineer Pro Dr. at Ft. Amanda Rd. (Drainage Maintenance) Then 12/29/2015 and Now 1/1/2016 $4,235.52 A motion by Mr. Belton to approve Resolution #09-16 was seconded by Mrs. Seddelmeyer. Resolution # 10-16 Awarding of Farm Bid for 2016
Be it resolved, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees hereby accepts the bid of $167 per tillable acre as submitted by Aaron Peters of 2387 Beery Rd., Elida, Ohio 45807 for the 2016 farming year A motion by Mrs. Seddelmeyer to approve Resolution #10-16 was seconded by Mr. Belton. Fire Department Discussion: • Chief to hold discussion with Trustees about hiring two new firefighters • New program-50% reduction in cost in usage of radios
Police Department Discussion: • Continuing State Mandated Training Courses for Officers • Standard Reporting for Ohio Police Departments
Road Department Discussion: • Second order of Road Salt was for 150 tons. Ordering 170 more tons for the 80% requirement for the year • Equipment repaired-Salt Spreader (Gate) • Ron Parr working on Amblewood. Street shut down, main tile is in, and work is to be completed by Thurs.
Zoning Department Discussion: • Photos of inhabitable property, 1408 Southwood • 1000 Daniels in process for demolition. Atty. Balyeat said to remove vehicle from garage and park at side of street, where it will eventually be towed if not claimed by owner. • List of Zoning Fees. Trustees to review list.
Cemetery Discussion: • Funerals on Saturday. (Unthawed layer of frozen ground for burials) • Road Dept. to work on trees. Trees marked.

Mr. Belton motioned the board approve paying the bills by resolution, Mrs. Seddelmeyer seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll call: Mr. Belton (yes) Mr. Holly (yes) Mrs. Seddelmeyer (yes)
With no further business to be brought before the Board of Trustees, Mrs. Seddelmeyer motioned the meeting adjourn, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Meeting adjourned at 10:23 a.m.
