Shawnee Township Road Maintenance

Shawnee Township Road Department currently serves 51.96 miles of roadway. The maintenance of the township roads include:

• Snow Removal
• Tile and catch basin maintenance
• Road repair
• Mowing of side ditches

Personnel

The Road Department employees consist of Mr. Howard Gray, the Road Superintendent, and four full-time road workers with 3 years to 28 years experience.

Shawnee Township Snow Removal and Mailbox Damage Policy

Effective November 22, 1999

When a claim is made by an individual concerning mailbox damage, the Road Superintendent will make an on site inspection as soon as practical.The Superintendent will determine whether or not there was direct physical contact with the mailbox. In order for the Township to accept responsibility for the damage, evidence of direct physical contact must be present.

Damage that is the result of indirect contact ( such as an accumulation of snow) will result in the claim being denied. Such repairs will then be the responsibility of the landowner.

We regret any inconvenience incurred by the taxpayer as a result of this policy and assure you that maximum amount of care will be taken to minimize such incidents.

Shawnee Township Leaves and Brush Pick Up

Restrictions

• Routine maintenance & pruning only
• No service for trees cut down by property owner
• No service for lot clearing or topping of trees
• Excessive amounts will be denied (anything less than a large pick up load is generally acceptable.)
• Final determination on size of acceptable load or pile of brush will be up to the Road Superintendent.
