SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING February 10, 2014 On February 10, 2014, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees held a Regular Board Meeting at the Shawnee Township Administration Building, 2530 Fort Amanda Rd., Lima, Ohio. Chairperson Chris Seddelmeyer called the meeting to order at 7:30PM. A brief moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call indicated those present as follows: Chairperson Chris Seddelmeyer, Vice Chairman Dave Belton, Trustee Russell Holly, Fire Chief Todd Truesdale, Legal Advisor Clay Balyeat, Fiscal Officer Stephanie Hoffer, Police Chief Mike Keith, and Zoning Inspector Jim Hile. Road Superintendent Howard Gray was absent. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Mr. Belton made a motion for the Board to table the Minutes of the Regular Board of Trustees Meeting held Jan. 27, 2014. Mr. Holly seconded the motion. FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT Mrs. Hoffer is finishing up end of the year taxes and W-2’s for the Village of Fort Shawnee. LEGAL ADVISOR Attorney Balyeat has prepared the deed for the former Fort Shawnee Municipal Bldg. Mr. Holly stated the Township has received the check for the sale of the former Fort Bldg. Mr. Belton motioned for the Board to adopt Resolution 15-14, Mr. Holly seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Mr. Belton motioned for the Board to adopt Resolution 16-14, Mr. Holly seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll Call: Mr. Belton, yes Mr. Holly, yes Mrs. Seddelmeyer, yes Resolution # 17-14 Dustin Hunsaker Ends Family Medical Leave WHEREAS, in Resolution 3-14, Shawnee Township Board of Trustees authorized Firefighter Dustin Hunsaker to begin Family Medical on Jan. 3, 2014; BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees authorizes Dustin Hunsaker to end Family Medical Leave in accordance with the Family Medical Leave Act and return to full duty on 1/21/ 2014. Mrs. Seddelmeyer motioned for the Board to adopt Resolution 17-13, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion passed 3-0. Mr. Belton motioned for the Board to adopt Resolution 18-14, Mr. Holly seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll Call: Mr. Belton, yes Mr. Holly, yes Mrs. Seddelmeyer, yes Resolution # 19-14 Pay Increase-Part-time Police Officer William Altenbach Whereas, William Altenbach has served as a Part-time Police Officer for the Shawnee Township Police Dept. as of Jan. 14, 2012; Whereas, Mr. Altenbach received a good report in a recent work performance evaluation; Therefore be it hereby resolved, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees authorizes an hourly pay rate of $12.75 per hour for Mr. Altenbach, effective Jan. 14, 2014. Mr. Belton motioned for the Board to adopt Resolution 19-14, Mr. Holly seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll Call: Mr. Belton, yes Mr. Holly, yes Mrs. Seddelmeyer, yes DEPARTMENTAL BUSINESS: Fire Department The Monthly Activity Report for the Fire Department for Jan. 2014, submitted by Fire Chief Truesdale, was reviewed by the Board. Mr. Belton motioned for approval of the reports, Mr. Holly seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. The report is attached and made part of these minutes. Discussion: • Jan. busy month. 68% EMS calls. • Helping people out during the cold weather. One dog rescue. • Firefighter training in Nevada. Police Department The Monthly Activity Report for the Police Department for Jan. 2014, as submitted by Police Chief Keith, was reviewed by the Board. Mr. Holly motioned for approval of the reports, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. The report is attached and made part of these minutes. Discussion: • Calls for service up 40%. • Lockouts up 90%. • Canceled Police training in Kentucky and rescheduled for free training at the Ford Center in Lima in April. Road Department Discussion: • 130 Tons of Road Salt left. Usage: 838 Tons (Over normal amount) • Truck repairs. • The dept. had up to 75 hours of overtime clearing snow and ice. Mrs. Seddelmeyer mentioned complaints received from people not getting their roads cleared right away. She explained that during Level II weather, the Township will clear the main roads first. • Plowing and Road Conditions postings on Township Facebook. Zoning Department The 2014 Quarterly Activity Report for the Zoning Department, as submitted by Zoning Inspector Jim Hile, was reviewed by the Board. Mr. Belton motioned for approval of the reports, Mr. Holly seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. The report is attached and made part of these minutes. Discussion: • Letters to property owners regarding placement and replacement of business signs for the construction of Roundabout Project on Shawnee and Ft. Amanda Rd. • Right-a-way permits for various businesses for Roundabout Project. • Comprehensive Plan to include Roundabout. • Construction Project-Apollo Career Center.
